A Resting Guide

How to Rest

When tired, rest.

Before bed

Sit. Five minutes at minimum — more if you have it.

Let the day settle.

Lie down

On your back. Your side. Whatever position rests the body.

The breath

Breathe. Lightly bring your attention to where you feel the breath.

The rest

Rest your attention there.

Nothing to do. Nowhere to be.

At some point, sleep takes you.

The morning

One morning, you'll wake — still with the breath.

It held you through the night.

tldr

  1. Sit — five minutes, minimum
  2. Lie down, comfortable
  3. Breathe
  4. Attention where you feel the breath
  5. Rest there

You may already have your own way of settling. If it rests you, keep it.
